Ready for another wave of fan service? This text has been waiting in the wings since the beginning of 2022. I’m currently playing through a few games… T. h. those that have already received reviews on blogs and from SG authors. And this is a reason to release a text about this unpopular JRPG now, while there is no opportunity to write about something new. Please love and favor: an opinion on an ultra-niche bagel for an ultra-narrow audience
Look at the cover. Don’t be fooled by the sweetly smiling main character, Hinata, who is on the right, buried in flowers: this is a jaw-dropping Roguelite, a semi-infernal fusion of JRPG and Dungeon Crawler, which punishes any mistake by depriving all items, all equipment, which fatally affects the survival and attack power of the characters under their care. It’s rare when you get a chance to save an item – attach a hard-earned, special, scarce, GPS badge to it, so that later, after death, you can buy it back from a greedy merchant. Despite its cute-cute-charming anime style, the game is capable of knocking out the teeth of an unwary player with the rage of a brutal creature, with pieces of bones, meat flying out of the mouth and splashes of blood on all the walls surrounding it.
I’ll make a reservation right out of the gate so as not to confuse the casual reader who is not ready for games of this type: Omega Labyrinth Life is a Japanese roguelike exclusively for amateurs, thoroughly fan-service and aimed mainly at a male audience. Cause? And it’s simple: the craziest emphasis on the female breast, which can be observed both in the general style and graphics, and in scenes that play up the key element of the gameplay – continuous pumping in the dungeons.
How much fan service is there?? It is enough for the heroines to wear the Sacred Sword and Jagged Shield as basic equipment, Polka dot bra And Obsidian Panties with protection from curses – underwear here acts as real armor (with greetings from Seven Pirates H!). As a boost, the level of the selected character increases, which resets with each new entrance to the dungeon, along with which the size of her, the character’s, chest also grows. This is the situation. There is no hentai that comes through everywhere, screaming (ringing, trumpeting): scriptwriters Omega Labyrinth Life they tell a sweet and kind story about how Hina goes to the Sacred Academy, which grows flowers and supports nature – t. n. Eternal Bloom. But suddenly, as always, the Evil Force intervenes and the main character, having gradually made friends with all the inhabitants of the academy, goes to fight the Final Evil (I propose a competition for connoisseurs: name 50 TV series with a similar plot).
The script is absolutely generic; The dialogues are presented with a twist: in general, they are not bad, due to the vulgar but successful humor and vivid images of the characters. For example, pop idol singer Yuri is especially annoying with sudden attacks, swearing and mentally sending half of the entire cast to hell.
Actually, the pop idol with the foulbrood, Yuri, and an example of her phrases. Walking somewhere in the background is a loli director who is over 200 years old at lunchtime. And two sisters, BSDM gardeners, hang around. Keep children away from the game: it is strictly for adults.
At the same time, there are zero plot twists, and also zero plot value, since in Omega Labyrinth Life The usual moe concept of “cute girls of classic types doing cute things” is in full bloom. But the main thing in it is not the plot, in it, as in Brave Dungeon, it’s all about participation: a very addictive, albeit viciously punishing, core gameplay loop that makes it worth playing for.
The garden requires primitive but regular care: it can grow weeds, or it can bear fruit, thus allowing you to add cool effects to armor and weapons
In peacetime, we chat with other characters, look after the garden (we plant flowers, water the flowers, harvest various buds and fruits from the flowers) and perform small side jobs for FedEx. Along the way, we develop a squad of students entrusted to us through mini-games with a humorous, characteristically Japanese vulgar subtext. For example, in order to get water that buffs the growth of flowers in the garden entrusted to us, we need to carefully massage a couple of ladies in the bathhouse. The principle is similar to “selling bath water” with Onlyfans, only realized long before Onlyfans. At the end we get all the benefits: water for the garden and a level increase for the heroine.
The plot is presented in a https://tipsportcasino.co.uk/bonus/ visual novel format. The approach is budget-friendly, but the quality of the drawings is extremely high.
But in the dungeons, where we send the girls in doubles (we have access to the full classic clip of “waifu” types), a genuine Vietnam. Dungeons are sometimes bursting with valuable loot, but are overgrown with the meanest traps and rather biting enemies, of which there are sometimes whole crowds. And the dungeons themselves are generated by cunning algorithms: every time at random, sometimes with wild bypass loops and labyrinths.
The game’s core mechanics add fire: every action, including movement, counts as one “move”. Moves are limited by the supply of food that you need to carry with you. Enemies move and perform actions after the player makes a move. Sometimes you sit and sweat, wondering what to do so that the next movement does not turn out to be fatal for either the main character or the secondary one: the one who kills, no matter who, the enemy, becomes 5-10 times stronger than before: killing such a creature later is extremely difficult. But you can get into a bad situation and return home with absolutely nothing in no time.
All the bosses are beautifully drawn, produce a bunch of minions or hit hard, and also take a oh-oh-very long time to cast
Enemies also know how to resort to extreme meanness: with some chance, a monster can knock out a priceless, hard-earned weapon (or even a shield or armor) from a fighter’s hands; it will bounce off and stick into a nearby enemy, causing him a ridiculous 10 units of damage, after which it will break to smithereens. It’s extremely difficult to convey the emotions of such a coincidence of circumstances: it’s like losing a lottery win you’ve just received, like wasting your favorite item on a trip, like losing your phone. Well, the death of the main chosen heroine instantly sends you away from the dungeon literally with your bare bottom: buy cheap and go through simpler dungeons in an attempt to collect more adequate equipment. Fortunately, some of the items and equipment can either be hung with GPS beacons in order to be bought again from a merchant, or stored in advance in the local “locker” of the academy, from where they will not disappear anywhere.
This game is very different from the same Hades : no need to go through all the locations again after death: from me personally for this Omega Labyrinth Life gets +100 points, because this approach eliminates the vile feeling of “all over again”, which ruins my entire experience of the game.
Invaluable equipment can be improved in different ways, and individual things can even be “fused” (mixed) with each other, resulting in new ones. If you’re lucky enough to get the recipe and items right, the result will be something extremely powerful. However, with such an item, especially if it is a weapon, it is easy to become arrogant and lose your head.
In dungeons, you almost always come across a whole heap of different loot, one way or another making our fate easier, but you can keep no more than 30 items in your inventory. The rest is to strictly shove into various kinds of “bags” obtained in dungeons, expanding the inventory at their own expense. Which are very fond of tearing, if you carelessly drop them, falling into a trap with your feet, or if, again, they are knocked out of the heroine’s hands by a special type of enemy. We can say that bags are a generator of joy."Hooray! I can take this with me!"and class frustrations"AAAAAAAAA, IT’S TORN. » in one bottle.
The basic concept of leveling up inside dungeons: the more heroines accumulate omega-power dropped from monsters, the larger their breast size becomes, and the stronger they girls become. By the end of the game, the bras will have difficulty containing all the accumulated, ahem, omega power
Three things save the situation: 1) With leveling up in the bathhouse, the girls receive active abilities: the ability to heal, survive after fatal wounds and hit very painfully, in. T. h. against all enemies in the room; 2) many items, including grimoires, can radically change the course of battle – stunning or painfully hitting enemies; 3) The game encourages resourcefulness: for example, you can successfully get drunk with “sadist” and “masochist” potions at a time when there is very little health, and the boss is still alive: we heal from incoming damage with the “masochist” and hit ourselves 3 times harder with the “sadist”. And if you turn on the “inner handyman”, then it’s quite possible to accidentally drop both potions and sprinkle them on the boss or enemies.
Upon successful completion of the dungeon, the game evaluates our successes and gives rewards according to our merits. In case the player managed to find a special petal, the game will offer to multiply the loot through an ultra-fanservice game of rock-paper-scissors using… the buffers of the heroine and the dungeon owner. I won’t describe the details, you just have to see it.
Fun fact: Items lost after death have a low chance of being fished out of a stream by a local fairy named Pai. She has no luck fishing, but sometimes she comes across lost underwear
– This is your fishing rod? Where did you find her?
– Hehehe, I found it while rummaging through the warehouse! I’ll catch all the fish out of the stream with it!
– Oh this must be fun! But just don’t try to actually catch all the fish
– Well, of course, I wouldn’t dare to disturb the ecosystem. I know how to behave. I recently fished out a great bra, but I let it go free!
– "Brassiere"? I’ve never heard of such fish.
And, paradoxically, it’s all addictive: exploring dungeons is almost as interesting as in Diablo 2 , Beating enemies only gets boring towards the very end of the playthrough, and juggling available effects, abilities and items in an attempt to survive doesn’t get boring at all. How to hunt for, sorry, flying lambs, full of experience and loot, shooting them with arrows and diamond bullets. You really want to play again and again, even if the console just almost flew into the wall from the abundance of frustration after a disappointing defeat – often due to one’s own stupidity or carelessness.
The game has a neat, pleasant appearance, it has a very neat and polished interface, it controls well, it has a pleasant, unobtrusive soundtrack written for it, and it is well-voiced in the developers’ native language – Japanese.
It took me about 40 hours to complete, from the very end of October 2021, at intervals, 1-2 hours a day. If you are not disgusted by the moe, ecchi genres and want something step-by-step, complex, vulgar, fan-service and cute – this is your choice.
The game is available on PC, PS4, NSW.
As far as other differences go, the Switch version will have normal illustration as well as armor break illustrations while the PS4 version will only feature the normal illustrations. The Switch version will also have touch events which will be skipped on the PS4 version.
There are plenty of other breast-themed features that will be available on Switch, such as the breast appraisal system we saw in the previous games that come with their own touch events, there’s also the “Paper-Rock-Scissors-Boobs” feature which will be changed for PS4. Both will have hot spring events and illustrations, but the PS4 version will be toned down as well.
Some of the core gameplay mechanics we’ve seen in the previous game, where character cup sizes can grow or shrink, will remain intact for both versions, but you can expect most of the PS4 version’s scenes and illustrations to be toned-down versions.
