It is known from today that life writes the best scenarios. We have been observing a growing trend in biographical films in Polish cinema for a couple of years. We already had the history of the Beksiński family, "The Art of Loving" according to Michal Wisłocka, the story about the leader of the cult band Dżem, and the picture telling about the cardiac surgeon Zbigniew Religa, who first dared to carry out the operation of transplanting the human heart. The last of these titles was directed by Łukasz Palkowski – the creator of this year’s film about Jerzy Górski – triathloniście, who passed (or maybe ran?) A long way in the pursuit of dreams. Jerzy Górski (excellent and underestimated at the 42nd Polish Feature Film Festival in Gdynia, Jakub Gierszał), we meet as a boy entering adulthood. He is a man with no reality who has escaped the addiction of heroin. Without much support from his parents (Magdalena Cielecka, Artur Żmijewski), he is falling down from the drug marasmus day by day. His girlfriend Grażyna (Anna Próchniak), who is then introduced into the world of drugs, keeps him alive.
Hopes from a young age as a professional athlete appear to be completely lost. Then the nurse Ewa (Kamila Kamińska) becomes the main character on the way. Jakub Gierszał Robert Pałka The film is kept in a light convention of comedy-drama. In addition, it is very versatile, which is rare in Polish cinema. Each viewer will find something interesting here. Arkadiusz Jakubik, Jakub Gierszał, Kamila Kamińska Robert Pałka The greatest asset of "the Best" is the acting team.
Everyone played above their abilities. The episodic roles of Janusz Gajos, Szymon Piotr Warszawski and Mateusz Kościukiewicz are created with great passion and acting skills.
From the technical side, the film is done very well – it is one of the few Polish films that I watched during the year, where there was no problem with the sound. All issues were understood, they were not drowned out by music or sounds from the background. Piotr Sobociński Jr, responsible mainly for the production of Wojciech Smarzowski (the winner of the Eagle for the photographs for the painting "Wołyń"), was responsible for the photographs.
Thanks to the photos, the film is very vivid, the scenes of participation in the triathlon are created in great detail and with panache. Janusz Gajos Robert Pałka Szymon Piotr Warszawski Robert Pałka Mateusz Kościukiewicz Robert Pałka Łukasz Palkowski is delighted once again. His name is slowly becoming a brand in the film world. After the huge cash success of his previous film titled "Gods", everything indicates that the "best" will dominate the Polish box-office. Palkowski very neatly combines elements of drama and comedy and I get inspiration from iconic foreign productions, including such as "Trainspotting", "Underground Circle (1999) Underground Circle" or "Twin Peaks Town". His rich imagination allows us to tell a story in an original way, in a way that I can see through the screening of a seated chair and waiting for the next scene. Łukasz Palkowski Robert Pałka "Best" was really the best of all the films in the main competition at the 42nd Polish Film Festival in Gdynia. He competed with 16 other productions and, although he did not win the main prize, he received other distinctions. He won the Audience Award and the Golden Klakier Award for the longest applauded film at the festival. In addition, Marek Warszewski received the award for the best set design, and Kamila Kamińska, for the best acting debut, received the award for the best set design. Kamila Kamińska Robert Pałka I recommend everyone to go to the cinema to see how good condition Polish cinema is and how much it can offer even the demanding viewer. .
