Not only a Signed Artist? Not a problem

You will find a huge selection of independent artists and now we all should target something: gaining new fans! Yes, even more than money, we want people to hear us and tell their friends about the mind-blowing new band they found. Getting our music placed on Spotify can be a critical step up this technique.

Unless you’re living on Cloud 9, you’ve probably heard of Spotify and its "freemium" service. You’ve also heard how Spotify has had the online community by storm. Every time certainly one of my friends hears music, it appears on my small Spotify, Facebook, Twitter, and whatever other social accounts I have; ex: "Hey! Nicklas just joined Spotify and listened to Weasel… " You get the idea.

So even though the amount of money you are making per stream (per play) is just one penny, the exposure potential is well worth it. And fortunately for indie artists like yourself, it’s pretty simple to buy your music onto Spotify.

At the moment, you may well be signed to some label. If so, your music might be on Spotify already. If it isn’t, call your rep and get if they’ve uploaded your own music on the service. When they haven’t and you also would like them too, give the order! (in the nice way). Also, ensure they send Spotify your press kit full of a bio, photos, contact info and anything else which makes you stick out. Not difficult, right?!

If you are a unsigned artist, that’s okay with there being a great deal of ways to upload your own music without a label. However, Spotify cannot negotiate together with you directly. Why not? I’m certain it’s one of the stipulations with their agreement with all the majors. However the option is still fairly simple. You need to pick a distributor like Tunecore, CDBaby or DittoMusic. I’ve written an assessment of these distributors so that you can save some some time and keep rehearsing.

Once you have created a forex account having a distributor or signed a label agreement, your own music will probably be uploaded onto Spotify within 4-6 weeks. However, there is still make an effort to be done, which leads us to:

    romote your music!

Spotify doesn’t always receive your awesome press kit, so in the same way a backup, build a profile at allmusic.com. Spotify will check for you there when they don’t obtain a bio.

Now that all of the tedious stuff is conducted with, you’re ready to enable your fans know Spotify will likely be sporting your tunes soon! Develop cool promo posts on Facebook, Twitter and MySpace. Produce a promo video to your YouTube channel. Just a sweet idea: write music exclusively for your Spotify release and correct it on your posts! Ex: "Can’t wait to determine our fans on Spotify. We’ve recorded an audio lesson only for all of you! Visiting your Spotify account soon!" Fans will eat up!

Okay, there are a number of tedious what to accomplish still. No website is complete anymore without clickable logos. When your music is on Spotify, download the service’s logo at iconfinder.com. Next, search for your band profile on Spotify (options are numerous arrive up, including "Top Hit, Tracks, Playlists"… you would like to find the link under "Artist"). While hovering over your artist profile, right click and choose "Copy Spotify URI." Last, combine the URI together with the Spotify logo by adding it aimed at your website or blog sidewall by creating an "Image Widget."

Another hip promo you can use for Spotify could be the "Spotify Play Button." This feature permits you to post songs on to your website and blog. First, right click any song, album or playlist in Spotify you intend to promote as soon as again select "Copy Spotify URI."

As an example, let’s post this URI on your blog. Open your website, write something for your hungry fans in html mode: ("We know you want a sneak peak individuals upcoming album. Here’s the 1st track in your case! Share it together with your friends!"). Next, post the hyperlink and give a salutation.
